Trauma Integration

It is important to let the unravelling of trauma unfold on his own, when lovingly held and devotionally attended.

The inner mechanism of re-traumatisation is extremely delicate, we must not force or push when working with post -traumatic experiences, allowing instead the right space for rebalancing to happen at its own time. At its own pace.

In my own experience as a tantric practitioner working with sexual trauma, I truly acknowledge the benefits that the talk therapy offers to the mind, but I also greatly appreciate the importance for sexual somatic therapy (bodywork) as an essential complement to trauma ‘integration’ towards healing.

The term ‘Trauma ‘integration’ comes from my felt experience of the process of self recalibration of the body system. It is the emotional trigger that becomes released, and that allows the experience to become integrated in the body system not as a repressed, separate element, but as a component of our personal experience as human beings.

Our bodies hold the memories of experiences, and often we build ourselves around these experiences, through life. In order to come back into balance after trauma (even an old trauma) our body loves to “talk” and “be listened to”, ideally through a compassionate and neutral therapeutic touch, which is what we endeavour to offer as Devotional tantric practitioners.

One key element of what a session can offer is how much the client feels ready to work on their inner experience, and heal.

The beauty of this process is that it is body-lead, so the body brings in only those elements that are ready to be processed, which minimises the risk of re-traumatisation, allowing a long-term integration.

All is based on the principle of the inherent willingness of the body to heal, and it is already doing it, so we approach the body system working with its inner life force, rather than working on the ‘issue’ itself.

I fully trust our body systems and witness amazing results in clients, when they feel ready to commit. As changes are deep, they can be perceived initially as subtle, so it might take a few sessions to feel positive changes.

But what is more worthy than ourselves, and improving our relationship with love, our bodies and soul and ultimately deepening our relationship with life itself?

Do you feel the call?
